Entry from: Dubrovnik, Croatia Entry Title: "Best Dubrovnik Ever" Entry: "To get down to the southern tip of Croatia I had to abandon my rail pass for awhile and use the bus system. The ride was pretty scenic, and would have almost been enjoyable had the bus been equipped with functioning air conditioning. Still, I can't complain about the view as the highway wound around the mountains of the Dalmation Coast. On the bus ride I met an Australian (WOW) who had yet to book accommodation in Dubrovnik. He decided to come with me to the hostel, and so we ended up hanging out a bit in the next few days. That night we made friends with the other (Australian) hostel guests and had a great night, courtesy of a Canadian from Afghanistan. I won't discuss this night further because I've been told that my stories about drinking are worrying some people. I promise everything is under control (only two parties in 11 nights in Croatia). Dubrovnik was the first place on my trip that allowed me to visit the beach and really enjoy the weather. Also it was my first real opportunity to show off my tan ("moon tan" as the Australians called it). The beaches were nice enough, but smooth sand was nowhere to be found, instead we had to put up with pebbled beach. It is impossible to walk barefoot on a pebbled beach without ...
